This 96-acre private island is a perfect high-end retreat for couples and families seeking a unique Caribbean experience catering to both anglers and non-anglers alike.

LENGTH OF STAY
Trips of any length are available, and the convenience of the Bahamas makes Kamalame the perfect getaway for a week-long excursion or a quick weekend escape.

THE FISHING
Andros Island, located approximately 150 miles east of the Florida Keys, is a premier bonefish destination. This Bahamian Island, which is over 100 miles long and in places up to 40 miles wide, consists of vast areas of flats, creeks, cays, cuts, mangroves, and fertile fishing grounds. Kamalame Cay, situated on the northeastern part of the island, allows access by skiff to numerous flats that are relatively close to the resort’s dock, or alternately by trailering the boat to the Joulter’s Cays or to the West Side of Andros. When fishing at Kamalame there are numerous options from which to choose. You can start your day from the resort’s dock and fish the oceanside flats and inland creeks along the eastern shore of Andros, all the way to Majestic Point. These flats hold large and aggressive ocean bones that feed around the sandy and coral shorelines adjacent to the deeper water. The inland waters and lagoons are accessed by the creeks, and smaller schooling fish can be targeted along the mangroves. These inland waters also provide protection on windy days. Another option is to drive north to the famous Joulters Cays - a must if the weather is favorable. These small islands just north of Andros are surrounded by endless white sand flats that seem to blend into the horizon. The Joulters might be one of the most populated areas for bonefish in the world, and tailing and large schooling fish can be found in abundance.

Trailering a boat to nearby Red Bays allows easy access to the Andros' West Side with minimal running time. This side of the island is acknowledged as one of the top “trophy bonefish” areas in the world. The west coast is also one of the better destinations in the Bahamas for tarpon fishing, which usually is best from April through August.

Lastly, for bonefish one may leisurely wade-fish the home flats on the backside of Kamalame Cay while non-fishing family or friends are enjoying the beach, pool, or spa. These flats are a short walk from your accommodations, and calculating the prime times relating to the tides will afford great fishing for relatively short periods of time - the perfect "escape" when vacationing with family and non-anglers!

BOATS AND EQUIPMENT OFFERED
Anglers targeting the flats fish from Maverick skiffs with 75 hp Yamaha engines. The off-shore enthusiasts fish from a 24 foot Pathfinder V-hull center consol and is rigged and outfitted with tackle.

THE LODGING
There are seven different lodging options at Kamalame Cay, allowing you to custom-create the prefect situation for you, your family, or your group of anglers.

Kamalame Cove
With three spectacular ocean vantage points, this nearly 7,500-square foot private peninsular villa sits on four secluded acres attached to the mainland of Andros Island by a narrow strip of beach. The Cove features a massive open-air Great Room that overlooks the sea on three sides. With a separate wing of four elegantly appointed bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, this private island retreat at the Cove gracefully caters to 8 guests and affords the utmost in seclusion. A heated private freshwater swimming pool, full-time kitchen and house staff, and access to all the resort’s many activities will help make for an extraordinary experience. Kamalame Cove is a unique totally private separate entity from Kamalame Cay but still allows for the guests to have access to all the resort's activities.

All rooms include hairdryers, shampoo and amenities, plush bathrobes, insulated ice buckets, and a stereo CD system. Additionally, Kamalame provides a complimentary food and beverage bar in each room, fully stocked with soft drinks, beer, snacks, and fruit. The fresh baked cookies placed in each room every afternoon continue to be a big hit. The open-air Great Room, which overlooks the Caribbean, provides a stunning setting for a relaxing hour of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, followed by the culinary delights of Artie Johnson, the superb chef whose succulent menu is meticulously prepared with Bahamian accents featuring fresh fish, lobster, conch, fruits, and vegetables. The 50-foot heated freshwater swimming pool, adjacent to the beach and surrounded by palm trees, has a self service Tiki bar fully stocked with beverages. The Tiki bar provides a comfortable and shaded setting where one can relax in a comfy chair and read or catch a nap. The immaculate grounds of the resort are accessed by golf carts which wind along sandy paths throughout the island.
