GENERAL INFORMATION
North Riding Point Club (NRPC) is located on the southern shore of Grand Bahama, approximately 25 miles east of Freeport. This provides guests with a quiet, private setting on an isolated, beautiful beach - with amazing access to some of the best flats and most productive fishing in all of the Bahamas.

LENGTH OF STAY
Trips of any length are available, and the convenience of Grand Bahama Island makes North Riding Point the perfect getaway for a week-long fishing trip or a quick weekend escape.

THE FISHING
While Grand Bahama is mainly a bonefish destination, the barracuda, shark, and permit fishing can be productive throughout the year. The guides are very professional and know their home waters, due to the fact that most have many years of experience. They work hard to maximize and make the most of your time on the water each day. The standard fishing package includes a half day of guided fishing for either your arrival or departure day! We found that the average bonefish on Grand Bahama is larger then most of the other islands in the Bahamas, except for Andros Island. And while the topography of the majority of the flats makes fishing from the boat the most productive, there are numerous wading opportunities as well. The tides, weather, and wind will dictate when the best time is to wade. The guides can typically accommodate angler’s requests in regards to quality of fish (bigger but less shots) vs. quantities of fish (smaller and more shots). They can also handle anglers of any skill level and do so with an upbeat, enthusiastic style. It is always best to discuss your fishing day with the guide every morning to establish expectations.

The guides from NRPC trailer the skiffs each day, enabling them to fish the most productive flats in the area taking into account daily conditions. The weather will typically decide which of the five boat ramps you will fish from. The guides seek calmer waters for the flats you will be fishing that day. Trailering boats in an air conditioned SUV for 20 to 40 minutes each way certainly beats getting beat up in heavy seas trying to access the most productive flats. Grand Bahama is simply too long and expansive to make those longer runs everyday. The Northern area of Grand Bahama is the main fishery for NRPC but they do fish waters all over the island. The Oceanside flats offer classic, pure white sand beach flats. These flats are rarely fished and have some impressive "ocean-surfing" bones. The Southwestern shorelines, bays, and inland flats are rocky and darker bottomed. These typically are the most protected flats due to the varying contours of the mainland and surrounding keys. Once the boat is in the water, the flats are close and you typically will not run for more then 20 minutes.

The flats of Grand Bahama hold good numbers of bonefish in the three to five pound range. You can also expect quality shots at larger bones in the six to nine pound class. Double-digit fish are landed several times throughout the year. Grand Bahama Island is surrounded by deep water, making it prime habitat for larger bonefish. While the Bahamas is not known for permit fishing, Grand Bahama does offer legitimate permit opportunities when the weather is right. The permit fishing is best from April through June when the weather is settled and stable. Flats adjacent to deeper water tend to be the most productive.

BOATS AND EQUIPMENT OFFERED
Anglers fish from 16-foot Dolphin Super Skiffs complete with poling platforms, 85 HP Yamaha outboards, and spacious casting decks. They are roomy, fast and comfortable. Each boat also has an aluminum casting brace with padding on the front deck. Each day your guide will trailer the boat to the boat launch in a SUV that has A/C. This is the best and most comfortable way to access the flats of Grand Bahama. Rental fly fishing gear is available and there is a well stocked fly shop in the lodge.

THE LODGING
Accommodations are cottages spread out on the beach overlooking the ocean. NRPC has the feel of a very secluded destination because there are really no other buildings in sight. The beach to the south can be walked for miles in bare feet and is truly pristine (except for the mysterious plane in the shallows). Each cottage has a shared screened-in porch, a private large bathroom, stocked fridge, walk-in closet, two full sized beds with high thread count linens, and a sitting table. These rooms are very comfortable, clean, have ceiling fans and A/C, and the porch is a perfect place to store your rods and relax. All the furniture is comfortable and decorative. There is plenty of well placed storage space for all you gear and clothing. The lounge chairs in front of every cottage on the beach are perfect for relaxing. The pool sits between the cottages and the main lodge and is surrounded by a deck with chairs and tables. The Founder’s House is a larger cottage and best suited for groups. It is very well decorated and appointed with a kitchen and large sitting area. The lodge does have wireless internet which works in most areas but can be weather dependant. There is a computer in the office for guests to use.

HOW TO GET THERE
Grand Bahamas is the easiest flats fishing destination to get to in the Bahamas, due to the numerous direct daily flights from Miami, West Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale to Freeport, Grand Bahama. Other major east coast hubs are now offering direct flights as well.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
As of 2006, all U.S. citizens are required to have a valid passport that does not expire within 6 months of trips dates. Please be sure that your passport has at least two blank, unstamped pages remaining in back, and that it is not torn, delaminated, or damaged in any way.

NON-ANGLING ACTIVITIES
While North Riding Point typically attracts anglers, the area itself does offer a number of solid non-angling options. Non-angling activities include golfing at two USGA certified 18-hole championship courses, diving, snorkel trips, glass-bottomed boat tours, eco-tours, parasailing, sea kayaking, and a host of other water-related options for all age groups. For those interested in island nightlife, there is gambling at two of the island’s casinos, fine restaurants, bars, and nightly dancing.

OTHER INFORMATION
North Riding Point Club is a private club with members that is also open to the public and non-members. At certain times of the year, the members do have priority on specific guides and cottages, in particular the Founder’s House. We found all the guides to be very good, and it is not uncommon to fish with different guides everyday. Arrival and departure day guided fishing is available and is typically included in the package rates.

Wireless internet at the lodge is fairly dependable. Cell phones work pretty well throughout the island and even on most flats. NRPC is around 30 minutes from Freeport’s main shopping district and casino. The casino has most games you would expect in any major casino but is smaller then a Vegas-style venue.

NRPC also has two on-site, full time mechanics to ensure the boats and trucks are in good working order everyday. They are always available for any problems throughout the day when fishing or driving with the guides.
