GENERAL INFORMATION
How about a tiny, private island - less than the size of a football field - all to yourself? A Gilligan's Island setting combined with the service, amenities and operations of the first class parent resort, The Inn at Robert's Grove. All of this located smack in the middle of permit fishing paradise!

LENGTH OF STAY
Standard package is a seven night / six fishing day package, although trips of any length can be arranged. We can also easily customize a combo package that is split between Robert's Caye and The Inn, located 45 minutes away on the mainland.

THE FISHING
The waters off the coast of Placencia are perhaps best known for the large numbers of permit that inhabit the southern area’s huge chain of cayes and flats. If you are staying in Placencia or at the Inn at Robert's Grove itself, then you are typically making a run of about 45-minutes each morning to fish. Staying at Robert's Caye will allow you to fish only minutes from where you are sleeping! As a matter of fact, we have actually had permit swim directly under our over-the-water-deck as we've relaxed in a hammock during a mid-day siesta.

Surrounded on all sides by deep, blue water, the healthy sand and turtlegrass flats of the area are home to some of the largest permit found anywhere. A number of the mangrove islands also hold good numbers of tarpon that can range in size from 20 to over 70 pounds. Schools of bonefish can be found throughout the cayes for those anglers interested in pursuing the elusive grand slam. This area of Southern Belize is blessed with a wide range of fishing contexts including extensive saltwater flats, mangrove islands, the largest Barrier Reef in the Western Hemisphere, and a plenitude of backcountry rivers and lagoons found along the mainland coast. There are few places in the Caribbean that offers a greater variety of fishing locations than Southern Belize and the waters of Placencia.

BOATS AND EQUIPMENT OFFERED
Robert's Caye and Robert's Grove utilizes pangas (skiffs) outfitted for fly fishing and light tackle saltwater fishing. These 23' skiffs are outfitted with cushion seats, a casting platform, polling platforms for the guides, dry storage for cameras and clothing, VHF radios, and 4-stroke outboard engines. The Inn also has rental fly fishing equipment and small items such as flies, leaders, and tippet for sale.

THE LODGING
Robert’s Caye, a 1-acre island, is located 10 miles off the coast from Placencia. The Caye features four tastefully appointed thatch roofed cabanas, each built partially over the water with spacious decks and stairs that actually lower via a pulley system directly onto the small home flat. Each cabana is outfitted with a king bed (or twins), full bathroom with hot and cold running showers, and a private terrace with hammocks. A small restaurant and bar, also built over the water, serves three meals daily. An ideal setting for honeymooners and sportsmen alike, this “swept away” island paradise is surrounded by crystal clear water and abundant marine life.

HOW TO GET THERE
International flights to Belize go through Miami, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta and Charlotte. The major airlines that service Belize are American, Delta, Continental, US Air, and Taca. It is best to arrive into the Belize City International Airport (Phillip Goldson International) before 3:30 PM in order to make your necessary in-country connections and allow ample in-country travel time to Placencia. Depending on what time you arrive in Placencia, you can either overnight your first night at The Inn at Robert's Grove, or you can head directly offshore to Robert's Caye.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
A valid passport is required for all visitors to Belize and must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond the duration of your stay. Citizens of the U.S., the British Commonwealth, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, and the European Community are NOT required to have Visas.

NON-ANGLING ACTIVITIES
Since the island (Robert's Caye) is tiny, non-angling activities are pretty much limited to water sports. Snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, wading the flats, or simply relaxing in a hammock with a cold Belikin are all great options. The Inn is happy to pre-arrange rendezvous diving, fishing and snorkeling guides – even a massage therapist - upon request. Kayaks and snorkeling gear are complimentary to island guests.

On the mainland, The Inn at Robert's Grove offers a wide range of complimentary activities the whole family can enjoy, including three (3) freshwater swimming pools, tennis court, rooftop Jacuzzis, Sea Spa, and a fleet of canoes, kayaks, wind surfing boards, Hobie Kats and bicycles. Additionally, the Dive Center at Robert's Grove offers daily diving and snorkeling trips to the Barrier Reef and outer cayes. The Inn can schedule day trips to the Monkey River, Cockscomb Basin Jaguar Reserve, and the area’s Mayan Ruins.
