GENERAL INFORMATION
Dave Brown Outfitters has gained and earned a strong reputation in the flyfishing community as the “go-to” flyfishing outfitter for anglers seeking exceptional experiences son the famous (and some not so famous) Western Canadian rivers such as the Bow, Crowsnest, Oldman, Waterton, Red Deer, Elk, Kootenay, Wigwam, Bull, Columbia, and St. Mary Rivers.

LENGTH OF STAY
Trips of any length can be arranged – from single day trips to week-long package.

THE FISHING
Since 1990, Dave Brown Outfitters has provided anglers from around the world with exceptional fly fishing opportunities on the trout-rich waters of Southwestern Alberta and Southeastern British Columbia. As they like to say, their guides are all “fly tying, sunglass-wearing, drift-boat-rowing, flyfishing professionals” that share one common goal: to provide each customer with a fishing experience that is second to none.

Dave Brown Outfitters is the only “full time” guide service of its kind in Western Canada. In other words, this is not a summer occupation or side business used for a monetary supplement. Outfitting is all these guys do and they do it year round.

Southern Alberta
If variety is the spice of life, then Southwest Alberta is definitely the spice rack, with five species of trout, the largest catch and release zone on the planet, and numerous trout-rich waters that include everything from high country cutthroat streams to prairie tailwaters full of big brown trout. A guided trip in Southwest Alberta is a close and convenient trip from Fernie B.C., which is only 45 minutes away from the world-class Crowsnest River.

Southeast British Columbia
The Rivers and Streams of Southeast British Columbia are some of the best flyfishing waters in North America, and until 10 years ago remained almost completely undiscovered. Even with a recent rise in attention, the area still remains uncrowded and incredibly productive, with a variety of different waters to choose from (including the Elk River and its tributaries.) All of these rivers have gained recognition for a number of reasons, including above-average-sized fish, healthy wild and native populations, a diverse number of different species, consistent dry fly opportunities, incredible hatches, and a scenic, uncrowded environment.

BOATS AND EQUIPMENT OFFERED
Clackacraft drift boats that are fully outfitted for flyfishing. D.B.O. can also provide all gear and equipment upon request.

THE LODGING
Despite the excellent fishing in Southern Alberta, what has been lacking for some time is a professionally managed, full-service flyfishing lodge catering to anglers that want an “all inclusive” experience. That has now changed, as Dave Brown Outfitters is working with the Anchor B Lodge, located on a largely inaccessible stretch of The Oldman River. From this well-placed lodge, anglers are within striking distance of the best fly fishing waters in the Canadian Rockies. The best way to describe the accommodations at the Anchor B would be "stylishly rustic," with each cabin featuring two beds and a private bathroom. Total capacity of the lodge is only eight guests, which makes it perfect for families, groups of fishing friends, or small corporate retreats. The dining experience at the Anchor B Ranch is outstanding. Guests will enjoy family-style dinning featuring the ranch's own Black Angus Beef, continuous cocktails and an extensive selection of wines. Best of all, the lodge works on fisherman's hours, which means that meals and cocktails are based on current fishing conditions as opposed to a schedule that is convenient for the lodge staff.

Fernie Alpine Resort
Located 6 miles south of Fernie and two minutes from The Elk River, Fernie Alpine Resort is a very quiet and scenic get-away that offers all the amenities you need for a fishing vacation. The resort has four restaurants, two separate hotels, a coffee shop and a grocery store. Besides being the flyfishing headquarters for S.E. British Columbia, other outdoor activities at the resort include hiking, whitewater rafting, mountain biking and trail rides.

The Griz Inn and Lizard Creek Lodge
Nestled in the heart of the Elk Valley, both of these lodging options are perfect location for summer adventures and extended flyfishing holidays. Both are located at the actual base of the Fernie Ski Area. They offer accommodations that are both affordable and full-service.

Island Lake Lodge
Secluded in the peaks of the beautiful Canadian Rocky Mountains, Island Lake Lodge sits on 7,000 acres of pristine wilderness. Enjoy hiking trails for all abilities – from one-hour walks through old growth forests to full-day hikes on mountain peaks. Take advantage of the lodge’s spa facilities and enjoy a massage or body treatment. Excellent on-site dining and all of the amenities that you would expect from a high-end wilderness lodge.
