LOCATION
Coyhaique Area – Patagonian Chile

SEASON
The season at Cinco Rios Chile runs from the first of December through the first week of April

CAPACITY
Maximum of 12 anglers per week

SPECIES
Brown, rainbow and brook trout

GENERAL INFORMATION
The Cinco Rios Lodge operation includes a large, newly-built main lodge and individuals cabins designed to serve 12 anglers at a time. Located directly on the banks of the Rio Simpson near Coyhaique, this is one of the premier locations in all of Patagonian Chile.

LENGTH OF STAY
A standard package at Cinco Rios Lodge is Saturday through Saturday (7 nights and 6 days of fishing.)

THE FISHING
Anglers are transported daily by four wheel-drive vehicles to rivers and streams (some of them in nearby Argentina) on trips that range from 30 minutes to 1 1/2 hours over mostly dirt roads. The lodge’s private rivers and streams are fished exclusively by the Cinco Rios guides. The lodge also fishes the area’s public waters, including the Rio La Paloma; the upper, middle, and lower Simpson; the rios Mañihuales and Aysen; lagos and bocas of the Azul, Desierto, Elizalde, Frio, Castor, and Pollux; and excellent small freestone streams such as the Megote, Guillermo, De Leon, and other unnamed streams. Lodge anglers do two jet-boat fishing days on the Paloma and Azul, two raft-float days on the Simpson or Mañihuales, and two walk-in days on the small freestone streams. Each of the lodge’s guides has four or more years of experience fishing and exploring these waters. They are a mix of native Chileans and Americans.

Streams and fishing in this area are typically within 45 minutes from Cinco Rios Chile. The streams offer diverse fishing; incredible, exciting dry fly action; and, challenging sight-fishing in pristine, clean waters. Some brown trout, only accessible with the lodge’s jet boats because of limited roads, have rarely seen a dry fly. Large fish abound, with many Browns over 18 inches.

BOATS AND EQUIPMENT OFFERED
Equipment includes jet powered boats, rubber rafts with high-back seats, Zodiacs with jet engines, and good vehicles with trailers.

THE LODGING
Cinco Rios features a large, new main lodge and cabins that can serve 12 anglers per week. The lodge is located directly on the banks of the Rio Simpson near Coyhaique. Cinco Rios Chile, located above the historic city of Coyhaique, is a full service lodge that can accommodate up to twelve guests per week. A main Quincho (or Great Room) invites guests to relax, swap fish stories, and make plans for the next day's angling. Also located in the main building is the dining room where both breakfast and dinner will be served. Here guests prepare their individual streamside lunches and meet for social hour after fishing.

HOW TO GET THERE
An impressive, scenic flight on a 737 jet from Santiago, with a stop in Puerto Montt, travels along the incredible Chilean Andes and brings you to Balmaceda and a spectacular, awesome new world. The Aisén District, a narrow strip of land within an entanglement of islands, fjords, bocas, and channels, appears to drop into the Pacific Ocean. Thousands of Glaciers and waterfalls pool to form deep lakes and then flow through reed-lined channels, wild rivers, and dark canyons. These peaceful depths of Chilean Patagonia are home to an abundance of healthy, resident brown trout and some rainbows.

Overnight Flights from the United States to and from Santiago are available on American Airlines, Delta or LanChile. From there you fly by LanChile 737 jet to Puerto Montt and Balmaceda, followed by a 40 minute drive to the lodge.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
You will need a valid passport to enter the country of Chile. Citizens of the United States, Canada, and the UK do not need a visa unless they plan on staying for more than three months. There is a one-time entrance fee for US Citizens of $100.00 USD, which is the same fee that the US charges Chileans to enter the United States.

NON-ANGLING ACTIVITIES
Peaceful and secluded, the Rio Simpson area is a birdwatcher's paradise for Andean condors, Chilean Southern-ringed kingfishers, eagles, ibis, torrent ducks, and parakeets. Nature's wonders abound for fly fishers, photographers, and hikers. You encounter glaciers, tropical flowers pollinated by bees, and temperate rainforests without the dangers of poisonous snakes, spiders, and other creepy-crawlies. Explore the nearby city of Coyhaique, with its woolen goods, shopping, and historic places of interest.
